ShadowBorn

Privacy Policy & Legal Notices

Last updated: 18 October 2026

In short

  • There is no ShadowBorn account, and ShadowBorn runs no servers that receive your browsing data.
  • Your browsing data is kept on your device, separately for every profile.
  • Sandbox Mode keeps its pages in memory only and leaves nothing behind when it closes.
  • Sync and backup are off until you turn them on, and then go only to your own Google Drive.
  • The app uses Google services for crash reports, usage statistics and ads, and to show website icons.

1. Who we are

This policy covers ShadowBorn Browser for Android ("the app") and the ShadowBorn extension for Chrome ("the extension"), made by ShadowBorn Technologies ("we", "us"). It explains what data they use, where it goes and the choices you have. Your data belongs to you: we do not sell it, and we have no servers that collect your browsing.

2. Data kept on your device

Like any browser, the app stores what it needs to work: your tabs, browsing and search history, bookmarks, cookies and site data, downloads, wallpapers and settings. Each profile keeps its own copy, apart from the others. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.

  • Passwords and passkeys are not saved by the app. Sign-ins with passkeys go through Android's own credential manager and the password manager you use on your device.
  • Privacy Keyboard works inside the app, so what you type with it never passes through another keyboard app. Its clipboard is kept in memory only.
  • Made on the device: search suggestions (nothing you type is sent for them; your country, used to suggest local sites, comes from your SIM, mobile network or time zone, not your location), the 3D wallpaper depth (your photos are not uploaded), the graphics test result and translation.

3. Sandbox Mode

Sandbox Mode is the app's private window. Its pages, cookies, history and site data are kept in your device's memory (RAM) only, and are gone when the Sandbox window closes. Nothing it opens is added to your profile.

  • Your choices: three Sandbox switches are off by default. Site storage (IndexedDB and Cache API, which some web apps need) lets Sandbox pages use the device's storage while they run. Media player shows Sandbox media on the notification and lock-screen controls. Notifications lets Sandbox sites send notifications. Turning them on is up to you, and none of this data is sent to us.
  • While Sandbox Mode is open: usage statistics are paused, no website icons are fetched, and no ads are shown.
  • What it can't do: Sandbox Mode keeps your device clean, but it does not hide your traffic from the websites you visit, your network or your internet provider.

4. Google sign-in, Drive sync and backup

Sync and backup are optional and off until you sign in with your Google account in the app or the extension. When you sign in:

  • We ask for one Google Drive permission, https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata. It lets the app see only its own hidden folder in your Drive. It cannot see, open or change any of your other Drive files.
  • In that hidden folder the app and extension keep your synced bookmarks, appearance settings, messages you send between your devices, and backups you make. A backup holds a profile's data so it can be restored on another device.
  • Your account's email address is shown in the app so you know which account is used, and is used to stop two profiles on one device from using the same account.

This data goes directly between your devices and your Google Drive. We do not receive it, store it or have access to it.

ShadowBorn Browser's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use this data for ads, do not sell it and do not let people read it.

5. Wi-Fi transfers between your devices

When your phone or tablet and your computer are on the same network, files and messages you send between them go straight from one device to the other, encrypted, without passing through the internet or through us.

6. Crash reports and usage statistics

  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google) receives a report when the app crashes: where in the app's code it failed, plus the device model, Android version and app version. It is used only to fix bugs.
  • Firebase Analytics (Google) receives how the app is used, for example which screens are opened, together with device details, app version, rough location (country) and an app-instance ID. It does not receive the addresses of the pages you visit or what you search for. It is paused while Sandbox Mode is open.

Google handles this data under its own Privacy Policy.

7. Ads

The app shows ads from Google AdMob only when you open it: at most one full-screen ad a day, and none on the day you install it. No ads are shown while you browse or in Sandbox Mode. Ads keep the app free. To show and measure ads, Google may use your device's advertising ID, your IP address and device information.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's Settings, under Privacy > Ads. Learn more about how Google uses data from apps that use its services.

8. What the app downloads by itself

Besides the websites you open, the app connects to these services. Like any internet request, each one sees your IP address.

  • Website icons: to show the icons in tabs, bookmarks, history and New Tab shortcuts, the app asks Google's icon service (www.google.com/s2/favicons) for the icon of each site's domain name, for example wikipedia.org. Only the domain name is sent, not the page address. If Google has no icon, the app asks the site itself. Not done in Sandbox Mode.
  • Wallpapers: the first-start wallpaper and the preset wallpapers you pick are downloaded from Unsplash (images.unsplash.com).
  • Translation: language files are downloaded from Google the first time you use a language. The translating itself happens on the device.
  • Add-ons and filters: add-ons and their updates come from Mozilla (addons.mozilla.org), and uBlock Origin downloads its filter lists from their publishers.

9. Websites and add-ons

Websites you visit get the same information they get from any browser, such as your IP address and what you do on their pages, and they have their own privacy policies. uBlock Origin is built in to block many ads and trackers on websites. Firefox add-ons you install work under their own policies and the permissions you give them.

10. Device permissions

The app asks for these only when they are needed, and you can turn them off in Android's Settings at any time:

  • Camera, microphone and location: only used when a website asks for them and you allow it in the browser's prompt, for example to join a video call or show a map.
  • Notifications: for downloads, media playing, website notifications you allow, and messages from your other devices.

11. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. Data goes only to the services named in this policy, for the reasons given here, or when the law requires it.

12. Keeping and deleting your data

  • Clear history and site data in the app's Settings, delete a profile to remove everything it holds, or uninstall the app to remove all of it from the device.
  • To remove synced data and backups from Drive: on drive.google.com open Settings > Manage apps, find ShadowBorn and choose Delete hidden app data.
  • To stop the app reaching your Drive: remove ShadowBorn at myaccount.google.com/connections.
  • Crash reports and usage statistics are kept by Google for a limited time and then deleted. To ask us to delete statistics linked to your device, contact us.

13. Children

The app is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

14. Trademarks

Google, Gemini, Chrome, Google Drive, Google Play, Firebase, AdMob, Microsoft, Bing, Outlook, Copilot, DuckDuckGo, Apple, iCloud, Yahoo, Proton, Lumo, GMX, Zoho, Kagi, OpenAI, ChatGPT, Anthropic, Claude, Perplexity, Mistral AI, Le Chat, Venice, Baidu, Mozilla, Firefox, Unsplash and other names shown in the app are trademarks or registered trademarks of their owners. The app uses them only to name the search engines, AI assistants, email providers and web services you can choose or open. ShadowBorn Browser is an independent app and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by any of them.

Website icons shown in the app are fetched at the time you use it, as described in section 8. The app does not bundle, host or claim ownership of other companies' logos.
